Worship is central to church life at Heritage. We strive to create an
atmosphere in which people can encounter God as they both praise and
submit to Him as Lord.
We believe that worship should be a relevant expression of timeless
principles: the recognition that God is worthy of praise, the
submission to God as Lord of our lives and the realization of our utter
dependence on Him and His goodness.
Our worship music strives to
combine contemporary art and form with solid theology. On any given
Sunday you may hear songs by contemporary writers like Matt Redman,
Chris Tomlin, David Crowder or our own worship director, Craig Smith,
combined with a classic hymn or two (usually done with a contemporary feel).
At Heritage we seek to genuinely meet with God in worship and are not
content simply to sing about Him. We encourage people to feel free to
sit, stand, kneel, sing, reflect, raise their hands or bow their heads
as they feel led. We are not a "charismatic" church in the sense that
our services are characterized by highly demonstrative
worship. However, many people who come from such backgrounds have found
Heritage to be a welcome balance of worship that involves both the
heart and the mind.
